Kelly and Bill….. I beginning to see why the fellow accepted my very “low ball” offer! With any luck, this will be the solution that solves the issue. I really beat it up and down our road and it seems fine now.

I’ve read these things often have the starter solenoid fail (it’s part of the starter). Mine’s “clicked” a few times, so that will probably be the next item. I was looking today when I had it open, and saw a perfect spot for a cb750 solenoid on the frame, right next to the starter!

Good plan, I put a Honda bolt on every bike we've resurrected no matter what brand it is. I even used 2 Kawasaki Concours fairing screws on the chin spoiler of the 84' Interceptor 1000 just to be a rebel.

Looks like the trailer hitch has been overworked.

We’ve been using ours non stop for the past week, cleaning up and getting ready for Winter. Never missed a beat. The trailer has been hooked up the entire time, so I’ll be checking that next time my wife parks it for a minute!

She was complaining the ride was rough, so I backed the preload rings on all the shocks right off. Didn’t seem to make much difference. I checked tire pressure and they were all at 12psi. Dumped them down to 6psi for a HUGE improvement. What pressure do you run? My neighbour is telling me he runs his “Gator” at 3-4psi.

My receiver is part of the main hoop that supports the rear axle and all the drive train. Seems OK. The “U” clamps just hold the optional, full length skid plate. All seems OK (despite the abuse!).

That looks very different than dhall57's hitch. I could fix that hitch nicely along with some extra bracing. I've learned over the years that it's hard to over build a trailer hitch. They take loads from every direction because of the leverage of the trailer tongue, especially when off road.

You’r right about the leverage. I cut down a straight drawbar for this machine (not the one on there) so the ball is a lot closer to the frame.

Been running the heck out of it this Fall and it works perfectly. That plow has a 60” blade and the LM650 is 10”s narrower. However, with the blade on an angle, they are about the same width. I wonder if even in 4 wheel drive, how much snow will it be able to push? May have to find some lawn tractor size chains for it.

John,what total weight is your LM650;did you purchase the plow yet ?
I like the idea of 4 Wheel Drive w/ snow chains.

I have a 60" back blade for my Yanmar YM 1300D 4x4 tractor. Even though tractor certainly weighs more than your ALM when I set the blade at an angle it will push the back of the tractor sideways as I go. Pushing/pulling straight it works great. I have thought about adapting the back blade to attach to the loader arms on the front so I can steer into the blade angle. With the loader bucket I can push a lot of snow but that doesn't clear it off the road.

Kelly…. I suspect I’ll never get enough traction to push any amounts of heavy snow. The LM650 is likely just too light.

Working it today. My wife and her gardens! Another load of “compost” to spread around…… Despite the cool weather, the thing starts instantly and seems to like hard work.

Update on my frame. I contacted ALM and told them my issue and sent pictures. The closest Landmaster dealer is about an hour drive from my house, but the next thing I know they send a truck and trailer to pick it up and repairing the broke frame and bringing it back at no charge to me. Now that's true customer service. American Landmaster stands behind their product! Thank you ALM.

That is great! I can’t find a dealer in Canada, but I must say they are quick to respond to my email queries and parts arrived quickly. We’ve been out in 6” deep snow and it works really well. Very pleased with mine.
