do you have the key?
If it works good, it looks good...

Hello!
The easiest method is to remove the plastic cover then insert the key and remove the lock.

If you lack the key get the number off the face of the lock and buy a new key.
https://www.hondakeys.com/
There are also ebay sellers etc. who have original keys as well just search for the key number.

Lacking a key to remove the lock you either have to pick it, or pretty much destroy it.

Here's a diagram. Remove the screw (#49) and remove the plastic cover.(#28)
You should be able to see the face of the lock then.
It should have a letter followed by numbers on the face.
That is the key code.
Once you insert a key and turn it the lock mechanism pulls out. (#30)
Don't lose the little spring. (#31)

You sure? Not seen one of those locks that didn’t have it stamped on the face.

Just drill the lock out if no key.

The lock is held in place by a small roll pin and can't be removed intact without being turned.
Since the lock is difficult to access without removing the forks and or triple tree I would try picking the lock first. They are simple locks, pretty easy to pick.
After that, drilling is an option but again it's difficult to access because of the location.

Also, I assume you only have an ignition key because the ignition switch was changed.
Do you have a key for the seat lock?
The original seat lock and fork lock would have had the same numbers.
On the later seat locks the number is stamped on the back of the lock.

Good shout regarding the seat lock, all new bikes of this era were keyed alike and it’s a good chance the seat lock will still match the steering lock. As for drilling it out, just remove the front wheel and the fender and you’ll have sufficient access to drill it out, then just use a screwdriver to turn it whilst pulling outwards.
