Help w 550k munit wiring
« on: September 09, 2024, 09:56:48 AM »
Hey all, got most of my info from here, but can't seem to find my specific wiring.

I have 5 wires coming from my ignition (78 cb550) . 2 brown, 1 red, 1 black and 1 brown/white.

Key has 2 positions,  on and P (Park lights). When key is in the on pos, the red and black has continuity

When key is in the P pos, the red and one of the brown has continuity.

Currently I have red to bat on munit and black to lock input.  But unit loses power when key is on P. I'd like to keep the switches working and have brown go to light input on mounit. But seems like this also needs to go to bat?

Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum Misanthropist
Sorry, I'm not a Munit person.

In the P position you should have power to only the rear taillight (on stock wiring).

Thanks for the reply. I just capped 2 br and 1 br/w. Ran red to battery, black to lock and battery to munit bat. Still lose power to unit when key is in P

The park position only powers the tail light. The key can be removed in that position. The munit has it's own version of a "park" light.

Got it. Thought that powered all lights.  So I should cap all browns. And what will I use as the light input? I'm assuming the cluster and headlights aren't always on?
