My CB500 project
« on: October 25, 2024, 10:43:35 AM »

Hello

First some quick questions, then you will get the story.
Breather Hose:
What is the route for the breather hose from the valve cover?  And what end is what ? does the end with the “protector sleeve go closest to the valve cover ?
 Tank shape:
After stripping like 1.5cm of paint and polyester putty I found the beat up tank inside. But: is the line down the middle the correct shape ?  from some google investigation it looks like the top is supposed to be flat rather or smooth rounded ?

So 10 years ago I got myself this Honda CB500 Four, that i planned to restore to its former glory.
But you know "life happens" so after taking it apart, doing the gearbox and bottom end of engine (The Primary chain was very bad, it had started to eat some of the engine block)
And getting the Frame and all the other black parts powder coated.. well it got left in the corner of my garage.
So I found all the bits and pieces and put them on my workbench to see what I need for the build.
Turns out a lot more that I remembered

So I started to order parts and got to work:
It was a challenge, the wiring was fixed, then fixed again, then modified. The ignition lock was moved to the dash, and the other type dash was fitted. This is like the K3 ?
I decided to add the text to the images. Tell me if you like that way ?

Common for the taper roller race to sit proud like that.

You appear to be missing a small metal plate, 50400-323-000, which fits on the frame near the coils to aid earthing. Maybe it's sat in a box somewhere and you can't figure out where it came from?

Alternator cover problem, did you make sure you removed the old clips before fitting new ones? It should just press on by hand.

AFAIK the breather pipe never got a protection sleeve. Looks to be something a PO added. It goes down through the middle of the carb bank at the back and then onto a bracket on the frame near the main stand
