You have to essentially throw out the labeling issues, unless they are trying to claim what isn't true. To me the European testing and rating are what I look at. Snell is pretty much worthless and DOT rates mean little in my opinion. The danger I think is the novelty helmets and half helmets in particular that some of the cruiser guys wear they don't realize how dangerous they are. If not strapped snuggly the helmets rotate in a crash and can turn you into a quadriplegic... But I see too many cruiser riders and people on the 3 wheelers  and slingshot style vehicles without a helmet, they are living on borrowed time, because accidents without a helmet often end in death, or the rest of their lifetime severely crippled.
Unfortunately my head is long oval in shape, so the Aria Signet X is the best helmet for my head shape. The only unfortunate part is the expense. Just priced a new Signet-X and 10mm V liner for the 2XL helmet and it would be $775 before taxes for the florescent yellow or about 20 less for a solid white at RevZilla, who has the lowest price. If I put another VAS flip up external shaded visor then add another $100 to that figure.
Rare to never to see the Signet helmets on sale...
Not working now, so that is a huge expense I'm going to have to save for in the next year or so...as my helmet is aging out.

Good timing. I am in the market for a helmet for my wife. I will be checking this out and comparing to what my dealers have here.

How AGV and HJC ended up on fhe bottom tier and BILT in the top 3 makes me wonder what their testing procedure was.

Both AGV and HJC have FIM homologated products - whereas BiLT does not.  Maybe cycle gear should send samples to the federacion

The head's outside decide the helmet to use ;D
Arai is not for my type of head shape.
Shoei and Schuberth fit. AGV maybe.

When I bought my first Schubert flip-up 2014 to 2015 season, Shoei had nothing close. They released a more expensive flip-up later on.  It felt like a cheap helmet on my head. Very simple lining inside, not comfortable. Probably more noise too.

Flip-up type is my style. Perfect when wearing glasses that sit on during helmet on-off. Or let some air in during refueling, open it.

Helmet must fit the head without headache. ;)

I also have the long oval head. I bought a new silver Signet X in 2019 for $600 from Revzilla. Best fitting for my noggin and great ventilation, even riding through the desert heat to get from San Diego to Colorado and east to NH.

I wear a G Force that cost around $280. It's NHRA legal for my Dragster in case I get the itch to drive. Probably not the best motorcycle helmet but it's full face, better quality than the wind whistling Bell helmets I used to use, so far nothing fell off, and keeps the grasshoppers off of my face.
Has anyone else noticed the lack of grasshoppers? They used to be as big as my pinkie finger by the fall.

Now that you mentioned the lack of grasshoppers Don, we had big ones here in NH over the summers as a kid in the 60s and 70s, but I haven't seen them in years, along with June bugs that would almost knock me out as they hit my face and I saw lots of stars, riding in the summers of the 70s riding without a faceshield, or they would hit me in the chest. I don't miss the pain, but have often wondered what happened to them and the grass hoppers. Maybe they haven't faired well with all the GMO'd corn and veggies we've had to endure at the Boone of big pharma and the crop dusters spraying roundup to get a fast dry out of plants to be harvested by the combines so there is less binding up of plants that didn't dry out enough and would clog up the combine drums destroying the drums and bearings(I helped replace/rebuild one drum on an old combine at a large veggie farm my son worked at in WI).

I didn't see many this year but it was hotter than blazes this summer. We had locust move through several years back and the roadway was covered with them. I remember driving on 83 in Santa Rita mountains southeast of Tucson and road was super vacated and I stopped and opened my door and there was grasshoppers/locust every 4-6 inches. Locust are related to grasshoppers but are a different insect... Havibg physical traits that are different and they aren't solitary creatures but become gregarious and form swarms and plagues. They can grow very large if food sources are plentiful.
