K1 gauges nos but fubared wiring

 A previous owner cut the K1 gauge lighting harnesses. Both gauges, and all an inch out of the housing. If I hadn't gotten them at an estate sale I'd love to ask the PO for what reason would anyone do that. Then he taped them leaving an inch diameter lump of tape. Sheesh.
 Yamiya has new ones for $75, likely a cool hundred with shipping. Probably worth it. I'm giving it a go with soldering and shrink tube first.
 Probably a good one for the PO'ed thread.

   Here's a before pic after I unwrapped the tape tube. A little solder and shrink tube they look right now. It appears I didn't get an after pic.

I've seen this before ...
I replaced the wires ...
This is normal, not fubar ...
