My only close local track closed 2 years ago and dont have money or time to travel for racing so the dragbike sits unfinished since I dont have the place to race.  Its hard to travel to the places a lot of you guys go because its a significant distance for me to travel from where I live to meet up with you guys.  Running 2 business and paying the bills doesnt leave much free time.  But I continue to collect parts to finish off the bike in hopes the track may open up again before I get to old and crippled to ride.

I've noticed several members post concerns about the lack of dragstrips in close proximity to their homes. I'm fortunate to have several within a 2 hour drive that host bike events. Other than that, i have to drive at least 6 hours plus to major races. I just make a firm commitment that its a part of the game to build in traveling to enjoy the sport.  At this point in my life, I'm able to afford the expenses and for that I'm grateful.

I hope something changes for any of you that don't have tracks closeby. Time waits for no one so we've got to enjoy our passion while we capable.

I've nominated Peter's bike (sohc boy) for bike of the month. I sent a PM that I hope he sees so he can accept.

Does anyone run rear set pedals on a drag bike? I have a wonky set but wasn't sure if they are worth the effort on a street/strip bike. Totally unserious racer.

Both Bill and I have our pegs moved back, and down. We launch the bikes with our feet planted on the pegs for stability.

 Thank you for the info,
I just got a set of used Tarozzi rearsets off of ebay, they are for a 750 F0 or F1 disc brake.
I have complete F1 and F3 rear brakes and either a 17" Hondamatic rim on an F wire wheel hub or a 16" disc brake rear Henry Abe. They rarely come up for sale so I grabbed them even though I'd prefer the drum brake set.

Note the rear pegs. I set  these to launch and stretch out to get lower on the bike. The front , stock position pegs are only there to get to the brake and shifter if needed. Otherwise I use the airshifter when racing.

Thanks for the pics, they are worth a thousand words.
My old CB750 guru had pegs on the swingarm forward of the axle, he had 400F handlebars and a fibermold gas tank and the seat that I have on the Rat Race.  He launched and then stretched out and shifted with his left hand. I have that bike and hope to ride it one day.
The engine was an issue, I thought I had bought two 72mm stroker pistons for it, but they were both for even cylinders and I need an odd one. The cylinder was scored and it had two dropped sleeves.

The Webers were gone, the tank was gone, I replaced both of those, A guy gave me the header a few years ago. It was in Tom's bike shop, and it was nit picked apart, also missing the rear pegs, small hardware, headlight and other things he could sell.
