A seat traveling from Asia to the US. Arrived duty-free.
« on: April 08, 2025, 09:06:52 AM »
I bought a Vietnam made 750 K0 seat, it's been in limbo for a week but I see this morning it has moved from Vietnam to Singapore. It should be interesting to see how it traverses the tariff system. No politics please, it might be helpful to those buying reproduction parts for our bikes.

I bought a Vietnam K0 seat years ago and it was excellent - best repro seat I have ever had - even had Honda logo on the back

Yeah Don...will it arrive via USPS?  Have had some of my first real problems with USPS recently and have not brought it up because I suspect the root of the problem is political.
If it works good, it looks good...

 So far, it's on Fed-ex.
I'm also waiting to resolve a lost part for $106 from the usps. The seller said 3 of 4 items he shipped have gone missing. Mine was picked up and that was the last movement that was tracked. It has been 5 weeks, the seller sent ebay info that it was being delivered even though he knew it was missing. Tomorrow my claim delay expires so maybe I can get a refund. Edit: I got my refund after 5 weeks.
It spent a couple days in beautiful Singapore, waiting for a ride. Hopefully Kalitta Air Freight will haul it to Alaska soon.
Tracking says "on the way" several times.

The seat went from five days in Singapore to Anchorage Alaska and then to Memphis Tn. in a couple days. No mention of tariffs so far. Delivery scheduled for tomorrow.
I know it is true but it seems odd that from the orient it's shorter to Alaska to re-fuel and then on to the mainland US. The big jets can carry less fuel and more cargo doing it that way.

The made in Vietnam seat arrived. Overall, it looks good. The ducktail is short like most reproductions, the foam feels very firm, the Honda logo is white not silver, and the heat pressed seams lack the fake stitching. The beaded seam is in the correct place, many of the reproduction seats have the seam way too low.
Aside from that, it dodged the tariffs, and there wasn't much of a travel story. I really expected it to be more interesting.
Now I can cut up some red foam and stuff the seat pan holes L0L!

I think I have a set of K0 hinges and possibly one more latch in the seat stuff box.
This frees up the extra K1 seat in case I take the race seat off of the Rat Race.

Interesting.  Hopefully, this thread gets added to as this situation may be changing rapidly.

If you ever want to get rid of that race seat, calling dibs!

Don…. I still have the frame side of a seat latch left over, if you need one. Not sure if I have a hook. Let me know.

Thanks John, I had a hook and the seat latch but it looked a little wonky. Some hammer and dolly work with it bolted in place and it's like 1970 all over again.
