Topic: CB550 - CB650 interchangability

Sorry about the last post.  i guess the 81' cb650 head has different spacing, is that right?   If that is so, has anyone found a carb set up that will work for this spacing?

That remains a mystery?? It would take someone at a salvage yard to rummage around and find a match? I'm sure there are common carbs that would fit.

The cb650 motor is taller having taller jugs for a longer stroke.

I am currently borring 550 jugs to fit 650 pustons as well as using a cleaned up 650 head and 750 carbs. Also using a 750 tank.

That being said, the jugs may be taller (by one fin it looks like) but the overall height is the same-ish. They make up the height difference with a shallower breather cover. If it’s taller overall it’s not by much.

Reviving this one from the dead before I go making a new post: does anyone know if a 550 lower case will mate to a 650 upper case?

You can not interchange upper and lower cases ever: they are machined as a matched pair.
