1976 CB750k restoration

Picked up a CB750k over the summer for $1300. The original owner put 16000 miles on it and parked it in his garage. I am unsure the reason for him not riding it anymore but after a few decades he decided to sell it to a person looking to restore it. He didn't have enough time to do what he wanted with it so he posted it online and i ended up buying it. I'm 20 years old and new to working on automotives but im learning a lot from my dad who is helping me out. The top end is apart right now and every thing is cleaned up, just waiting on a couple parts. Here are some of the pictures I've taken so far. Going to be working on the fame after the engine is back together.

Hi Jake! Use the "Attachments and other options" button below the dialog window to attach pics. Please try to keep them to a reasonable size; 1meg is usually sufficient.

That's great that you and your dad are working on it together.
As to pictures, I find that my phone takes too big of file size for the forum required size limit, I get around the size by screenshot the picture, then crop it to get rid of the extra from the screenshot. That makes the file small enough to post them.
I'm not a techie so this works for me. There are other ways around it but I haven't learned them.....I'm old and not as smart as these phones....

New CB750 K6 Anteres Red, to replace the totaled K5, I sold this K6 at 45k in 1983, I had heavily modified it, many great memories on it and have missed it greatly.....

That's a nice bike
how are you going to do the restoration

That bike looks like a perfect candidate for a Patina resurrection and save the history
Remember it's only original one's
Also the cost of a resurrection project is a lot less $$$$$$$$

I have a 1977 CB750K7 and the bike is clean and not restored only resurrected (as I call it)and the bike gets a lot of attention in the parking lots on bike night's

Good luck on the project

good luck on your restoration from a fellow k-6 owner .   if you do not have honda mans book ,,  get one !   worth it's weight in gold .

Looks like you got a great deal from what I see viewing from my phone. Welcome to the forums and South Sound Honda (Olympia WA) is a great source for parts from a discount dealer. JTMarks on eBay, CMSNL, David Silver Spares, Yamiya, Z1 Parts, Niche Cycles for a few things... All good sources

Avoid 4 into 1... And any off brand or Chinese parts

I see you were able to add the pictures. Nice.
So what are your plans for it?

The gasket kits these days have thicker head gasket because of not having asbestos now, so you will need to have the cylinder decked .010 to make up for it and get the thicker orings from HondaMan so you don't get leaks.
If you haven't got Hondaman's book, get it to save some pitfalls.

I’ve got an athena gasket kit off of vintage cb750. My plans for it right now is to get it looking good but not perfect. I want to be able to ride it this upcoming spring/summer. It might look like a rat rod but i’m okay with that lol.

Congrats and welcome to the SOHC club!  You should have no problem getting any parts that you may need, a lot of us have spares on the shelf.

Do you plan to paint the frame? If yes and want the original look, use a semi-gloss black.
