What parts did you use ?
« on: March 26, 2007, 05:18:39 PM »
when you coverted your CB750 to twin front disc ?

Allthough I have done it, I never said what a cock up it was ;D ;D ;D...It looks right...it works OK...and at 185mph you can't tell it's a cock up. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Chris has a mate who wants to do the conversion and like me, he hasn't a clue what the parts came of that we used.
The caliper arm that we started with was handed...the one on the right is straight but lines up perfectly.

What caliper arms did you all use. ?

Did it Mick but it didn't say what model the caliper arms came from.

Well Sam, Are you using stock fork legs? Mine is a K3 and it seems to me I just used another K arm. I probably have a dozen and they're all the same.

sam-- i haven't done the conversion on a 750, but i believe the early 750's have the same setup as the 550. in any case, i just used all parts identical to the left side. the only difference is that you lose the rubbers on the right side fender mount.

Hey Sam...If you're looking for a conversion to use spoked wheels, then the Goldwing forks are supposed to be a straight up swap...I think...from reading posts here. If you want to go further, then later model dohc calipers(two pistons) and their mounting brackets are supposed to line up with sohc lower fork legs. I believe Sean(Scondon) has done the dohc caliper conversion so maybe give him a pm if you have questions. So, Goldwing forks from the era combined with dohc calipers with their brackets=good braking. ;D

Thanks guys, looks like BW has sorted it  ;).

The problem arose when we bought the doner bike.

It was a K4 but it had a DOHC CB900 front end on it.

Chris started looking round for the K4 front end bits and came up with a set of F1 forks and a caliper arm that was said to be off a K4.

When you are not sure what you are doing, people take advantage and tell/sell you anything.

In the end I found an arm that did the job with a bit of moding, but like the first arm, I hadn't a clue what it came off.

Anyway sorted now thanks. ;)

I feel your pain...I'm doing a conversion and have managed to get three different "K" caliper arms, with two fifferent mounting brackets in my search for parts.  :-\
