HONDA Front Fork Emblem on a CB750??
« on: February 20, 2025, 05:56:55 PM »
The area between the front forks beneath the headlight with the brake line junction visible is unsightly - really a mess!  It looks like many owners cover the area with the addition of a Honda Front Fork emblem.  From what I can see there are new reproduction HONDA emblems readily available online and older original emblems from a CB650 are sometimes used.  Your thoughts on adding a front fork emblem that is not orginal to the CB750 would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I put one on a 400F also, it really cleans up the appearance. The trick is finding the bracket that fits the forks on the bike you have.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I'll try digging thru my 'stuff', as I think I still have the emblem and hardware from a 750K8 I restored long ago, but the owner wanted the logo gone. Might be tomorrow before I find where it was and see if it was still there: it's snowing hard here.

Again.

Would the emblem and hardware be compatible on the earlier bikes?  Thanks!

Honda CB750K8 front fork emblem.  This also looks like my old bike from 40 years ago  :)  There is a big difference between the K8 emblem and CB650 emblem?

2nd photo is the CB650 front fork emblem

I've got one of the Yamiya reproductions of this one. On the fence about using it though. I used black braided lines w black ends on my dual brake setup but the copper crush washers at the junction still make it kinda an eyesore...but I'm also considering leaving the seat and tank lower trim off along w the rear grab bar.

I used one from a K8 on my 1976 cb750F restoration. Took a slight modification, but fit nicely. The mounting plate was very rusty, so I sand blasted and had it powder coated with some other parts.

Check Yamiya website. I think they make one for the 1969-76 cb750.

The Yamiya CB750 front fork emblem looks very good.  Looks nearly identical to the CB650 emblem with different mounting.  The CB650 has 2 screw holes in the front and the yamiya emblem has clips to the underside attached to rubber gromets in the mounting bracket.

Nah!  Show off that original cable clip.  Those are no longer available.  Just my opinion but I think the Honda emblem on the lower tree doesn't fit with the rest of the K styling.  It looks too late 70s early 80s.  They are very poplar on Japanese K bikes though.

Nah!  Show off that original cable clip.  Those are no longer available.

The cable clip really does stand out  :D  Extremely well made and high quality.  I am also quite surprised at the quality of all the bolts on the bike - excellent chrome and the threading is smooth. My first experience working on the bike was with the brake piston and that was horribly seized up.    I was expecting more seizures but the bolts are coming out nice and  easy.  So far . . . so good.  I'm sure it's just a matter of time until a bolt somewhere is going to give me a nasty surprise.

I had read that the speedo cable mounting phillips screw in the front is often overtightened and seized.  Today I applied some WD40 to the front and backside, hit it gently with a hammer a few times, and it unscrewed easily.  New front fender is on - what a difference!

Yep, a well-placed rap on the speedo drive screw is the best way to let them loosen up. It pushes back the corrosion and oxidation on the tapered screw head to release it.

Yes…. Outstanding work by Connery Paint in Toronto. The gold flakes are a little larger than the originals, but it’s lovely. The super strong side covers were done by a previous owner, with a 3D printer! Eventually found an original chrome exhaust system, that really finished it off.

Old starter motor cover removed on the right.  What a mess!

Original used replacement starter motor cover on the left

Cover was purchased in the USA on ebay for (get ready for it)  $7 with $5 shipping for a grand total of $12. I wish all vintage original Honda CB750 parts were this cheap  ;D

When looking at covers for sale  I also made sure to pick one with a very good condition gasket.  The transformation of the bike is moving slowly  but I really am having fun with it.   Each replaced part brings a big smile to my face.  So Much Fun!

Thanks mate - very much appreciated.   I have put an impact driver on the list of tools to buy including a circlip/retaining ring pliers for rebuilding the brake master cylinder and front fork clips.

Reviving this older thread as I just bought this front fork emblem which includes the mounting bracket.  I am quessing this mounting bracket will not fit the earlier CB750s and maybe I will just need to fabricate a new bracket??

Do the large holes line up with the clamp bolts on the bottom tree. I used one I had to “adjust” a bit. Much easier than fabricating a new one…….

Not sure if the holes will line up? I doubt it mainly because if comes off a later model Honda.  According to the seller it is from a Honda 1981-82 Honda CB750C.    I just bought the emblem in the USA so it will be a very long time until it is shipped and delivered to me here in Thailand.

As others have mentioned it might look too modern (1980s)?  It only costs $35 so not a lot of money to take a look to see if I like it??

You can make the holes larger or slot them in or out with a round file…… you’ll know when it arrives.
