Scottoiler bracket CB500X
« on: April 22, 2025, 08:55:50 AM »
Ok so I bought the electronic Scottoiler for my 2023 CB500X. The OEM bracket was not making me feel happy so I made one of my own as I wanted it.

One key thing I want to share here is to encourage others to just try making a think you have thought up, just DO it :-).

Here is the mounting point offered that I chose to use.

I used CAD, cardboard aided design to prove out that a flat plate can be bent so that the mounting area ends up on the same plane as the factory instrument cluster.

Exactly how you go about making your thing will be dictated by what you have avail, I have a milling machine and lathe so used them.

The control dashboard for the oiler mounts onto the bracket with double faced tape.

Also cleaning up the wiring for the Garmin Zumo XT, had it plugged into cig lighter to run it a bit and make sure it lives, I had a cheap bluetooth carplay that vibration killed within a few thousand miles.

The CB500X has no vacuum ports leaving me to either drill and tap a hole into an area that has engine vacuum or buy this more pricey fully electronic Scottoiler. I have coming up on 8k on the OEM chain the dealer has a new one waiting for my next service visit to install, I have a new rear tire there too. The Scottoilers have way more traction over on the UK side of the ocean than here maybe. But if it will double or triple chain life as some claim it will be well worth it. They make an electronit one that is programmed by Bluetooth as well that is maybe $50-$75 cheaper but I decided on this one. I have the dual oil feed "scorpion" coming but it is not here yet. They had a combo deal where one could buy that and the oiler for maybe only $10 more than just the oiler. They are tal, king one drop every 60 seconds for oil and maybe an ounce in 1000 miles usage with only minimal crap on the bike, we will see :-).

Anyway if you think about making something, well go ahead, make it :-).
