Hand Held Dyno Digital Ignition
« on: April 27, 2025, 07:24:33 AM »
Has anyone have any experience with this (very EXPENSIVE!!!) phone app adjustable ignition?
It Replaces the stock advancer as well as eliminating the points plate with a non adjustable plate and pickup wheel.
Supposed to be able to adjust it on the fly too(danger).
The box is made of billet aluminum unlike the plastic of the dyna box.

The web page doesn't say much about the difference it makes on the SOHC Fours. So I'm very leary, you can't even message the company.....

I saw that on the AU 750 SOHC fb page. It is interesting but very lacking in information about the SOHC Fours. Mostly about the expensive modern sport bikes that have carbs and sensors.

EFI is relatively simple to tune: carbs require some tools, time, parts, patience and savvy.
But then, savvy is a scarce commodity today! :)
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

interesting bit of kit, but i have a quite cheap ignition box in my DR350 that uses an app to program, not that special in that sense

makers of those things have an easier time nowadays dropping a wifi or BT component on the pcb than adding a port or wired connector to connect a cable to a PC.

the one thing i dont like about that hand held thing is what looks to me like a very high inertia rotor, almost a flywheel held in overhang, cant be healthy to the small keys that hold it in place when you upshift...

also the mystery surrounding the  the working principle is a bit odd. phonic wheel? star trigger? induction or hall or other? I like to know what im getting :)

and yes, the price....

Overall I suppose it is perhaps decent. The $855 is a decent outlay.
$100 for the "tuner ap" and then some more $$  for "bluetooth" hubs which gather data gives you a way to log up to 5 sensors. A wideband could be one of those sensors. A Microsquirt is a full fledged ECU but as far as I know the only way to log that same data with it is to bring a laptop with you on the ride.

decent outlay it might be, but this programable/digital unit is half the price..... silent hektic has a good reputation in central europe, less known outside

also like their small, light rotors, like in my air/oill GSXR's

OK. What is needed for the CB750 then? The website doesn't make it clear.
