Heated jackets?
« on: August 10, 2025, 09:40:46 PM »
Does anyone have experience with the battery powered heated jackets? I won one in a raffle today, it didn't have a charger in the box but my wife got a similar one as a gift last year and her charger works.

 It's an ORORO brand.

It's hard to think about heated anything here, as today was the first day in two weeks when the temps didn't get to 99 or above; after a brief, but hard rain that yielded 1/4", the temp was only 96 today. ;D
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I hear that, I was cleaning up a bunch of fallen tree branches today and had to stop. It wasn't that hard work, but I was feeling shaky. Got some water and went into the AC, then I felt clammy and got a dry shirt.

No experience but interested how well they work and battery life. This will be my first winter with a longer commute, about 3 hours/day or well over twice as long as my previous commute. I have heated gloves that mostly work, best at midrange RPM but there's no more juice for any more heat. Figuring In Jan/Feb I'll be just about frozen after my commute even with my normal undershirt, shirt, insulating windbreak shirt, jacket liner, and jacket.

One year someone gave me a red hooded sweatshirt for Christmas, it turned out to be a 4X. Since it was so big I hung it up in my truck but on a really cold day working outdoors I realized it fit over all of my other warm weather gear. That thing was a lifesaver. I used it on my bike a few times but never got anything that kept my knees warm enough.

Edit: Windjammers with lowers on a Goldwing do warm the knees a bit. I never took them off this year, if it was too hot, I rode a SOHC4 or a GS1100.

October 6 heated jacket report, at the risk of tempting fate, I can report that it's still hanging in the closet untested.

Yep, the Lowers on my (750) 'Jammer help greatly in cold or rain. On the 750, if you prop open the back ends of the Lowers at the bike's air filter it will curl warm air up the back sides of the legs, very nice! I use some U-shaped plastic pieces that were once some plastic parts boxes: they push the sides of the Lowers out about 3/4" for this use.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.
