1974 750 K4 - Need mechanic in Southern California
« on: August 17, 2025, 11:59:15 AM »
I'm original owner of the '74 K4 in Covina California and I'm looking for a local mechanic that can help me get her back into shape. It's in pretty good shape overall with new OEM exhaust and the only mod is a 16" Harley rear wheel. About 10 years ago, she was running great. But then sprung a small fuel leak from the O-rings that go into one of the carb connections. I believe it would require a complete removal of the carbs to replace that O-ring so it's beyond my abilities at this point. It also needs work on the front brake which locks up plus tires and a couple smaller things.

I'm 78 years old so I don't know that I'll be riding her much more or selling, but I think in any case I need to get her running. Local bike shops are willing to do the work but charge insane rates and really don't know the bike very well. So I'm looking for a local guy who is reasonable and would love to work on her. Any referrals?

Welcome aboard the forum Wysocki from NH
I just sent you a PM of a friend who is in San Juan Capistrano  with a K4 that might work on yours at his house or knows of someone else to do it.

Might sound stupid but those O rings can reseal after they have been "wet" for a while, if its only a drip with bike on centre stand put a small container under the drip and see what happens
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
