Yeah, see that's the problem. DHL (and every other carrier) has to now collect tariffs on everything valued at less than $800.
That's most certainly thousands and thousands of extra packages.
To do that means adding people and capacity to their infrastructure and they're most certainly going to pass that expense on to customers.
Yes, but I don't like it.
Tuesday rates change, hope 0%, back to the way it was (ps I noticed no one guessed).

I don't think there's much chance we'll ever be able to get back to the way it was.. :(
Also, new rate is reported to be 15%.
At least for the moment.

On Sep 16 usa changed the tariff rate on cars and small trucks from Japan from 27.5% to 15%
Several articles gave the impression the general rate would be lower however that did not happen.

Also of interest Japan exports to usa decline because of tariffs.

I've ordered the CI piston kits for almost 20 years, now, and always got them in 5-10 days.
Now it has been 26 days and they 3 times revised the "delivery date" (DHL services), missing it again today. When I e-mailed them about it today, they said, "So sorry. We need a payment of {$ome number} before delivery can be done, please go to [this website] or [this smartphone-required number, which I don't use] to submit payment so we can deliver".

Tomorrow will be interesting...

I just ordered a shipped from China replacement carb for my gift horse Yamaha Zuma pit bike, it is out for delivery with usps. The ad said no additional charges after initial payment. We shall see but so far it appears that they either ate the cost or included it in the $37.70 price.
I've considered robbing it for the part I need to fix the stocker but will likely just try it first. The stocker has had a lot of abuse and who knows how close the interior dimensions of a clone carb are? 12mm Dellorto. I have a choke plunger for a bigger Dellorto carb left over.

I finally got the CruisinImage pistons set: with new delivery costs, tariff, new taxes (on both sides) and all, it came to $215 and change for the $100 piston set. There is a mysterious charge of $35-ish in the mix somewhere that I had to pay to "release" it from [wherever it has been jailed] before they could deliver, and that was denoted as the last sticker on the box, on top of 4 other stickers that looked like someone's handling marker.

Before it was just a pkg, now it's a new revenue stream.

Please report shipping and tariff, I want to calculate.

If you ordered parts from Yamiya in September or October please report tariff charges.

I ordered two coils and four condensers from Yamiya for $470.16
15% of $470.15 is $70.51
On Saturday I received an email and paid $119 tariff + 14.50 service charge
UPS charged 25.3% tariff.
Called UPS today, explained situation, they transferred call, explained situation again, guy said give me two minutes to verify,
next I received a customer satisfaction survey.
I'm guessing the guy was still verifying and did not return to call in time and call ended.
I called again, explained situation again, ups requested I send facts to a ups email for verification.
I can calculate 15% in 10 seconds, it appears ups cannot.
Sad situation, I ordered these parts to repair a friends motorcycle and set of spare parts for me.
I have ordered thousands of dollars of parts several times to restore CB750, have to stop, sad situation.

I have paid for Ebay stuff using PayPal which came out of a bank account, then my bank hit me with a foriegn excange fee. The Minister of Finance in my marriage raised holy hades about it. One work around is to go to Dollar General or Family Dollar and buy a pre paid PayPal card. That way there cannot be any foreign exchange fee. I can decide if I am ordering whether all the fees make sense or not, but a fee after the fact does not give me that option.

The de minimus exemption has been heavily exploited and some of what we are seeing is due to that popular loophole being closed.

Does Dollar General or Family Dollar sell Yamiya CB750 parts?

I called UPS two times Tuesday and sent an email as requested.
On the first call the guy was polite and listened, give me two minutes to calculate, two minutes went by then the phone switch to a "customer service survey" oh boy, I now see why he could not calculate in two minutes.
On the second call I was instructed to send an email with the facts which I did.
I was wondering if I would ever hear from UPS however I received three email replies.

This is one of the email replies -

Thank you for reaching out to us.
I’ve attached the 7501 to show you the breakdown of tariffs/duties for your shipment.
I see the Metal tariff is driving the high cost. I have also attached a S232 Copper, Steel and Aluminum form if you can please fill that out and send it back to us so we can update any of the S232 information for you.
So the "metal" tariff is in addition to the 15% Japan tariff.
I am going to calculate the copper, aluminum, steel content of two coil sets and four condensers and complete the S232 form.

Will you be able to determine the country or indeed countries of melt/smelt and cast/pour?

That 232 form looks like an invite to a fool's errand.

I dissected a coil to get accurate copper, aluminum, steel weights for ups.

Best of luck mate. I really hope it can bring some reduction in your importation costs.
