Aftermarket Carb O-Rings - and a Rant!
« on: October 04, 2025, 02:21:59 PM »
Here's an aftermarket carb kit I bought for the 1971 - 1974 Honda CB350 Four - - the sizes are right, but the O-rings have me a bit stumped: which ones do the jets get?? The fat donut-looking one on the far right is too 'fat' for the main jet, while the ones in the middle are too big; the second one from the left is too fat for the float valve grooves to allow it to fit, and the tiny one on the left I assume goes to the air screw, but the carburetor diagram doesn't show an O-ring in there, and it's too small for the main jet!

So, what's a poor bike builder to do...? - since this 350 Four I'm working on was a basket case when I got it AND came with a designated full set of (shudder!) 4-into1 carb kits, I scavenged the right sized O-ring for the main jet and float valve, which allowed me to get the jets in with an O-ring around them - but my Rant is, regardless of whether or not they are designated for the CB350 Four (which they allegedly are), the MAIN JETS of the 4-into-1 kit DO NOT FIT the CB350 Four jet holders/little 'butterflies' that keep the main jet in! The 4-into-1 jets are too big!

NOT that I am surprised, this isn't the first time I've gotten bad stuff from 4-into1- - but how the hell do they stay in business??  I/we/us cannot be the only ones getting shafted by 4-into-1! It amazes me...

That being said, I can't afford a bona-fide Honda carb kit for this bike, IF they even make one - but since CruzinImage now charges double for their stuff thanks to all these tariffs, where are you getting carb kits for vintage bikes that fit?? Common Motor?

Most of the kits I have seen do not have the correct size. By looking through past threads and talking to hondaman
I bought a bunch at the o- ring store. They were super inexpensive but I had to spend ,$10.00. I have used them on 3 bikes now and they are the perfect fit
Pop right in with a little grease.

Send me your address via messages and I will send you a set.

Push them in never twist.

Its should be the tiny one in your picture they definitely need to be stretched onto the main jet

I get my o-rings from the oring store, & always buy a dozen or 2 of each size. I also buy a few of the next size up or down.   Just so the shipping isn’t more than the parts.  I learn what sizes, any way I can, usually with help here.  I have successfully used a too-large oring for a bowl seal by cutting and glueing back together with “Gaskacinch” in a can.  Worked very well.  After a few years collecting sizes, sometimes I don’t need to order any for the current job.  I probably have $50 invested in O-ring stock piles.  Always use original brass cleaned the best you can.
