seat trim
« on: December 31, 2025, 07:58:49 PM »
I have 72 CB750 K2. I am reusing the original seat pan, and the foam and cover is from an aftermarket earlier seat. The aftermarket seat cover was held on to the base by a ton of little pointed perforations that the seat cover snagged on to hold it in place. The original seat pan does not have this. I would like to use something like the original trim as it held the seat cover to the base. Apparently David Silver used to sell it, but I don't see it anymore on the site.

First pic is the original trim
Last pic is what I am looking for, from an article online that references DSS for the part. Those are not my lovely hands. Seems out of stock everywhere
Second pic is the trim that was bolted through the seat on the aftermarket seat by the PO, which will not help me hold the seat cover on

Why don't I use the PO seat? Bike was sold to me with 3 seats, none of which work. I am Frankensteining one together from the parts.

Anyone know where I can get the trim? Was going to use rivets, but the trim would be way easier I think. Thanks

I went to Autozone and bought door edge trim(chrome) to go over and hold the aftermarket seat cover.
I held the seat cover in place with folder clips so to stretch it in place, then IIRC, I put in some Shoe-gu in the chrome trim to hold and seal the trim to the cover(keeps water out too)

I also reused the end clips that were on the original trim front ends to finish the chrome ends

Stu, good idea with the folder clips to hold it in place

I saw this too. I asked the seller if they had any “edge on” profile pics, but they did not, Just that it was “rounded at the bottom and the sides taper up to the top”. Have you used it?  I was worried it was just plastic trim without the rubber part; and that it might not hold the seat fabric in place to the pan?

I've used it for trim on the bottom of my K8 gas tank.  It looks nice and stays on, has some type of glue release after installation and hit with a heat gun.

Here is what I used, it's 3/8" high, which is about the same height as the original chrome is

I dug back into my records, I bought the trim strip from David Silver for $25.  Not listed there currently.

I use the “door edge” trim as Stu suggests. Works great on seats and tank bottoms on my K7/8 cb750’s. The one I get has a bead of adhesive deep in the “U” that gets popped and spread as you pound it down (with a soft rubber mallet).

To the guys that used the trim, does it hold the seat fabric to the pan without additional support like pop rivets or something?

It does. Leave the folder clamps on, take one off and start around the set putting the trim on, take the next clamp off, push down the trim......continue around until you are are to the other end...

Worked for me too.
