1962 Honda test track pictures
« on: March 11, 2026, 05:20:26 PM »
My brother's old pictures from his 1962ish days in the Japan US Airbase motorcycle club. I'll update as I learn. He told me they were invited to drag race at Hondas test strip. I remember him saying it was only a couple yards wide.
There is a tiny pic at a road race and a line of bikes in the hundreds. It'll need a good tune-up.

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I think each airbase had a club, bikes got handed down to a new guy every time an Airman was sent elsewhere. Bud had a Kawasaki and a Lilac. The Lilac looked like a mini BMW.

One of his friends went to Germany where he took his BMW engine to get it built up. When he went back home he had it as a complete bike which he cut into parts that fit in the allowable size box. Reportedly welded it back together when he got home.

Okay, that seems a bit extreme.  ;D

He could get a certain size box sent on an airplane free or at least cheap, a bigger box cost $$. And you would have to know the guy.
