Topic: E-bay modular helmet?

My innocent friend, 6 months ago I did a "get-off" at 25mph (twenty five miles per hour).  I broke my leg and collar bone.  I was wearing a half helmet that got pretty well dinged up and my face only got bloodied (not that anyone would notice the difference otherwise) Don't think going slow with Harleys is any kind of safety precaution. 

True, true but I'm less worried about someone turning left right in front of me when I'm with a larger pack.  Besides, even a $1000 helmet doesn't protect your leg and collar bone.  You got lucky wearing a half helmet.  We just had an older guy get killed offbase, he was wearing a half helmet.  He missed his turn off and locked up the back brake.  Lowside killed him, cracked his mellon just right I guess.

Very cool helmets but the pound to dollar ratio would kill me.

This is the cheap helmet I bought before I knew anything about helmets: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/item.aspx?style=11675&department=101&Division=1 It has the d-rings and fits well. I can't pull it off, nor does it open while riding. I've had it over a year and haven't had any problems with it. A couple of complaints though; the liner bunches a little so if you don't pull on it while donning the lid it pushes on your forehead (gets rather painful after 20 minutes or so). The other complaint is that the top vents appear to be only for show. I can't tell any difference if they're open or closed.

My friend bought a VOX full-face. I think the only problem he's had is the sheild mechanism broke.

I think I'll keep mine for a while, but I'll invest in a better one next time.

Never had an issue with these folks -- including a helmet I had to return for sizing issues -- and their prices are good.  They also have a good selection of the flip-up chin-bar helmets.

This is the helmet I bought with my bike....$125 I think.....It is a modular. I have a chrome visor on it, looks sharp!

My first helmet was a Nolan 80 when I was 14 years old.

Till this day, I still use it, and it works just like it did back then. It's a little snug, but I use it when I have to do some test drives after maintenance.

Cost me $89 including tax, and its BRIGHT RED

 Right now, I went with the red\white\black\silver combo that Vega came out with. Priced at $75 with removable shield, liner, and buckle.

 Works out great and looks very mean! But I still would like a modular helmet, so when I stop at a light, I can talk to my pops without slurring my words

The street price appears to be ~$145 and it appears to be reasonably well made.

AGV is another Italian company that is very good.

It's between HJC and Nolan in quality, in my opinion.
