Guy had a helmet and a decent jacket, but was riding like a dummy.

Not gory, but left me going, "Wow, that's messed up."

You gotta see it to believe it.

I remember reading about this a little while ago and I have to admit, I had some morbid curiosity to what it actually looked like. It was allot less "graphic" than I would have thought but I wonder where all that energy from the impact went. I also wonder what he (more specifically) died from, you know beside the running in the back of a truck at 120mph part.

I would presume broken neck.

If it wasn't instant death from the impact I'd think the helmet strap pulling on his neck might have made things worse.  Not that he would have survived without the helmet.

Yeah, I'd guess broken neck, too.  Maybe it was instant, from the impact.  Would hate to think that he lived any amount of time hanging like that.

I would think the impact on the chest would have done him in, still is a wierd way to go.

OMG.....

Makes me think shouldn't speed anymore (not that I ever do  ::) )...
I would hope it was quick for him.
Mabey having his friend go the week before makes me think it might have been a intentional collision.

while i'm sure his friend's death caused him pain, i dont  think he hit the truck on purpose.  maybe more like the gene pool in those parts might be spread a little thin.
But thence came the Great Schism, when the two like tribes diverged, and the Bobbers did take the Road to Cruiserdom and the Cafe Racers did ride to Sportbikedom and they did pollute the lands along their paths with their abominable spawn of Choppers, Stuntaz and like manner of unholy douchebaggery

I don't think he meant it was intentional, think he meant more that the guy was on the road to unwind and loosen up, and had his mind elsewhere.

I know my sister died a couple years ago, and I went for a short cruise to clear the head, before I realized it I was up by the sault locks waiting in line to enter canada, with no realy clear recollection of getting up there.

Some people hit bottles when thing's are bugging them, I go for very long walks or cruises.

I would guess the bike must have hit the bumper rail (the thing to prevent cars from going under the truck on impact), and he must have gone over the handlebars and hit headfirst, probably with the top of his head. It must take a good deal of force to punch a hole in the back door of truck like that, but a 150 lb person flying along at 120 mph would certainly do it.

I saw the report on this one, can't remember where I saw it. The cervical vertebrae were crushed in his neck, but he didn't die immediately. There were indications that he died as a result of both bleeding out and the broken neck. Note the very small amount of blood under the deck of the trailer and how pale the feet are, indicative of massive blood loss. Had he died instantly, the heart wouldn't pump and the blood would start pooling very quickly in the feet considering that he was propped vertically by the lodged helmet. The good thing was that he was most likely unconscious from the massive concussion inflicted by the impact.

I don't mean to gross anyone out, but with over five years of responding to fatality accidents in Marin called in by the CHP, gore doesn't bother me as much as once it did.

him being dragged would explain a lack of blood near the body...
