Tire FAQ: Don't Use Protectants/Cleaners
« on: May 27, 2007, 10:53:54 AM »
I just stumbled upon this short motorcycle tire FAQ on the Dunlop site

http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/infocenter_faq.asp

The one thing that surprised me is that they recommend against using tire protectants and cleaners because they may cause premature cracking, etc.

I know you should never use automotive tyre black (I use Armour All) on bike tyres as it leaves them shiney and slippy!

Don't ask...

Semi off-topic, but Lemon Pledge works great for mounting new tires ;)

I was under the impression that "Armour All" or its equivalent reduced ozone - U V damage. ( Yeah, I know...keep it off the contact patch.)  Any thoughts on this?

Armour All is silicone.
