Clutch, or lack thereof
« on: May 30, 2007, 10:08:01 AM »
Hi all,

New to the site but have been reading a lot of posts.  Just brought home a 75 CB750K5 from my brother.  He bought it last year and hasn't ridden it much.  He rode it a month or so ago and the clutch wouldn't disengage, he changed the oil, adjusted the clutch per specs and no help.  I went to get it and it was stuck in gear with the clutch in, rocked it around and got neutral.  Got home, ran it with the clutch lever tied down, now the clutch won't engage at all.  The bike acts as if it were in neutral no matter the gear or whether the engine is running or not.  I don't know if it is simply a clutch pack problem or something worse.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Run the cable adjustments to both extremes.  If nothing improves, pull the clutch cover and run that adjustment back and forth a bit.

If none of that helps, you'll need to pull the clutch and find out what's FUBAR'd.  Even if you find something else, you should plan to replace the discs, while you're there.

How many miles? Got a manual?

Oh, and welcome...

With a quick lesson in my brother's lackluster mechanic's skills and some further adjustment of the clutch shaft the cycle moves again!  Next issue... New chain and sprockets.
