It looks a lot like mine!

Ive got a 78 CB750F SS and yours looks to be in splendid condition.

If the cost is less than $1500, and it runs like a top, you better jump on it.

Cheers,

Ben

What  a beauty!!!  You have a real find there!!! I worked summers in a Honda dealership at that time and those were great looking and running bikes.

Your question seemed to be why there are not more.  The people who bought them chosen them over the 750K and 750A and were usually hot rodders who also liked to customize the bike with aftermarket exhaust or paiint and also put alot of hard miles on them.  Less likely to be the type that owned yours and carefully cleaned, maintained and garaged it.

Its competition was largely the GS 750 Suzuki, an equally good if not superior bike, and you find very few of those as well.

In any event, great bike, enjoy it!!

You don't see many around for sale because they really aren't worth much and people just give them away...which is what you should do so that I can add to my reserve of worthless bikes. ;) 6,600 miles just about has it ready for a rebuild...if it's even up to it. ;)  It looks okay in your pics but more than likely it needs a complete ground up restoration especially because or that pesky '77-'78F engine...

Seriously though, that's a fine looking F2 you have there. I don't know what the sales numbers were for those bikes but a lot of people around here(the forum) don't care for the look of the '77-'78F bikes(wheels and tank). That might have been the case back when they were new too. They also had some stiff market competition at that point which probably hurt sales...Suzuki in particular was leapfrogging over Honda in the engine department...which caused Honda to rush out it's dohc without working out all of the bugs.

If you ever find the need to sell your fine ride as a $200 parts bike look me up. ;D ;D ;D

Don't overlook the F2's for a cafe job. there are some killer looking cafe F2's out there. I'm hoping to get started on my 77' F2 soon....I just got a moto jack for my B-day.....so there's a start.

wow if my 77 looked that clean I doubt I'd have done what I've done! That being said, those comstars are boat anchors!!! I shed 50lbs on forks/brakes/wheels, when I swapped to some modern wheels.

The F2 was the last of the SOHC 750--OK, Ok the US had an F3 but it was an F2 with a different colour--
As the "Last" model it was tuned a bit more and slightly more fragile plus it had totally different wheels, brakes and looks and it did not "fit" with a lot of people plus by then Honda had a lot of competition and it just did not sell a lot so less left now
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Nice clean example.  Don't mess with it, if it's runs good and is complete.  Just keep her gassed up, oiled and put some miles on it.  One more year and 78's are officially old school.
If your hacksaw is getting restless, find another bike that needs some work to chop/cafe. ;D
