Oil seen through tappet adjustment port
« on: June 10, 2007, 12:46:07 PM »
At 1500rpm, with inspection covers removed, #1 and #4 exhaust are spitting oil out the holes. That looks good.   But #1 and #4 intakes don't spit, even at 3000rpm, even though everything I can see through the port is covered with oil. Is this normal?  #2 and #3 I didn't check yet.    I don't remember exactly where the various oil orifices are, its been a year and a half now.. ::)

The cylinders are inclined forward; could that be it? You're just looking for problems now!

Yeah you might be right ;D - still not convinced a total amateur mechanic (me) can disassemble and reassemble an engine on a $100. bike and have it work right. :P  Maybe someone else with a 750 can verify that all is well or not.   Dave

put your hand or a paper towel over the inlets on 1 & 4 - then do your test - make sure the motor is warmed up too.. it helps when the thinner oil splashes about...you should definitely get oil on your paper towels.
