Ideal tire size for the 750K
« on: June 12, 2007, 12:50:57 AM »
I'll start lacing the new rims pretty soon, so it's time to start looking into and saving for new rubber. I was planning on using the crappy donuts that came with my crappy bike but the rims are so shiny it makes them look even crappier.

So I read several threads, stock sizes are F 3.25-19, R 4.0-18. Hondaman recommends F 100/90-19, R 120/90-18. Mathematically there's a considerable difference in width, but how do they physically compare, same brand same model?

Which are better suited for the heft of this bike?
Baja native.

Bump...

I'm almost ready for new tires but the PO put a 130 on the rear and I'd like to go to proper sizes.  (My rear is 17 though.)

Well the earlier 750s had narrower rims. The 77/78 K bikes seem to do very well with a 110/90 front and 130/90 rear.

In their day, we didn't have all this fancy 110/120/130 stuff. Just good old inches.

We all aspired to 425/85 rears on the 18 inch wheel - that corresponds to 110/85 or 120/90

Tire on the bike is a 120/90/18 (Dunlop GT501) and one off the bike is a 110/90/18 (bt-45)  - both cb750k wheels -

cheers

Did you move to the 110 for any particular reason?

Ive used the 120/90/18 in the past for many miles and wanted to return to stock to see if there was much off a difference (and after reading forum discussions on the topic). For me...I like the 110 on the rear of my cafe bike - which is a different set up from my stock bike with the 120 entirely so hard to accurately compare - but both corner well and both handle great. So much of a difference? Well hard to say on such different set ups - the both work for me. The wear patterns however may be different (as Llyod has mentioned in the past - see past threads on this).

cheers
