Hey everyone,

I just bought my first bike, and it's a 77 CB350F.  It's painted lime green, it's rusty, and I love it.  I'm working on restoring it at the moment, and it's already an interesting project, as this bike is a bit of a Frankenstein.  It's got the wiring harness from some sort of Yamaha, and the front forks from a Kawasaki, but the engine and frame are still original.  However, I only paid $200 for it, so I'm not complaining.

Anyway, I'll register for the gallery and post up some pictures of it in progress, and I'm looking forward to participating in this forum.

Welcome.  Not to start off on the wrong foot, are you sure about the '77 part?  Honda only imported the F model for about 2 1/2-3  years around '71.  The twin (K, G, I forget the others) the imported for 20+ years(if you count the punched out 360s).  Check the VIN plate on the steering head.  It will tell all.

Something else I learned working at a Honda parts counter is that Honda didn't catch on with what the US was considering "model years".  We would ID the bike based on the manufacture date, Honda made model changes at any time they felt like it and designatedthe changes by a number after the model letter.  The 350F was referred to as 350F0 or 350F!.

Enough of that.  Sounds like you got your hands full.  I can't possibly imagine how Yam & Kaw parts would even fit but...hey, anythings possible!

I'm sorry; I mistyped.  It's a CB550F.  I was up late last night working on it.  I'm still not quite awake. :)

The Yamaha wiring harness doesn't really fit; the starter motor was completely cut out, among other interesting wiring issues.  The front forks are a fair amount longer than stock, and I think I'm going to replace them with stock ones as soon as I find the part for a reasonable price.  New headers and wiring are my first priority, though.

Coffee,lots of coffee.  The fact that's a 550 will makeit a little easier finding parts.  Honda still might have the wiring harness.  But if you want to go back to stock on the forks, your best bet is probably used.

My first 4cyl was a 550K.  Lots of memories.

It'd be a winter project if I had a garage big enough and enough heaters to keep it warm.  It's usually a little too cold to work outside in the winter here. :)

As far as the Bills' chances, I'd speculate that they are slim...

What part of town do you live in?  I live in Squirrel Hill and have recently seen a guy on a bike that looks suspiciously like the one in your avatar riding around.

I live in Jefferson Hills and ride mostly south of the city. The roads around my house are perfect. Lots of hills and twisties.
