Spark Plugs

I must plead ignorance...  ::)

I had a lot of ignition misfire problems at all rpm ranges. I screwed with the points/condensor and ignition timing over and over before I gave up on that. I replaced the coil wires with a nifty thread that I found on this handy website forum (it works!)  ;D

Anyways, after screwing around with all of that, I still had a misfire problem. I had originally ruled that the plugs were good because when I hooked up the timing light to each of the plug leads, they were all firing... Not very well, but still firing. I thought that because the light was flashing, they were ok. I thought that when plugs went bad, they stopped working period. I was wrong.

Well my cheap ass finally bought a new set of plugs today and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! No more misfire. Smooth as a kitten. I can't believe that I wasted so much time and effort on other crap when all I had to do was spend $12.00 on some plugs.

Bottom line, when trouble shooting ignition stuff, replacing the old spark plugs should be the first thing you do!

What is the thread? I think I may have read what you're referring to, but I cant find the thread.
