throttle and clutch cable question

DECIDED TO TAKE A LATE NIGHT CRUISE CAUSE ITS HOT,DID SOME OF THAT THEN STOPPED ON MAIN ST TO TALK TO SOMEONE.WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE THE CLUTCH CABLE BROKE STRANDING ME LATE AT NIGHT.I DECIDED TO PUSH IT HOME ABOUT A MILE,NO ONE AROUND-MY LEGS AND ARMS HURT.SO MY QUESTION IS DO THESE CABLES BREAK ALOT AND HOW ABOUT THE THROTTLE CABLES.HOW EASY ARE THEY TO CHANGE IN MY 78 HONDA 750K.THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS.

You should be able to replace the clutch cable in a few minutes with the tools in the stock toolkit. The throttle cables take a bit longer.

I looked at my clutch cable last week and noticed a bunch of the plastic liner poking out at the clutch end. Ordered a new one yesterday.

Edit: New cable arrived 7-30 . Went to install it and found that the knob on the lever end was only hanging on by 3 strands of wire! Didn't get that very last mile out of it but came so close.
