Changing tire tube!!!
« on: July 18, 2007, 07:12:27 PM »
I started changing the tube on my rear rim today. I got the tire off pretty easily. the rubber strip around the inside of the rim was in good shape so I left it. I put the new tube in. Getting the tire back on is alittle harder. I got one side of the tire back on. I am having a hell of a time stuffing the new tube under the tire. the wife started #$%*ing and I was sweating my ass off so I called it a day. I will try again tommorrow. Any pointers from the wise would be appreciated!! thanks.

put a little air in the tube, just enough that it keeps it shape. that will keep it out of the way and you'll avoid pinching it.

I always put one side of the tire on and then put in the tube with a bit of air. Use some baby powder to let it move around a bit. use your tire tool to get the tire the rest of the way on the rim being very carefull at this point to avoid pinching the tube.

baby powder....a lil air in the tube....a couple of c clamps to keep the bead in the center of the rim while pulling and tugging...6 tire irons...keep the wife inside the house so she don't hear your colorful language :o  (optional, she can help with the tire irons, if wearing ear plugs). I do mine on a garbage can
