Removing Paint from My Seat??
« on: July 19, 2007, 04:46:05 PM »
Hello,

I just bought a stock seat off of Ebay for my 78 550K and it came with some blue paint on it. I am OK with this because I only spent $20 on it. I think he had it listed in the wrong catergory. Other than that and a little rust on the strap things, the seat is in great condition.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

p.s. The last picture is the seat that I took off to put on the "newer" one.

Try some aluminum polshing compound with a little spray of WD40.  It worked for me.
Test it on your other seat first and don't rub to hard.  Good Luck

Try a bit of rubbing alchol if it gives up some color, then you can use denatured alcohol. Always try out on you old seat first for safety. Lighter Fluid is also pretty good.

Go to the store and get some 409. It does wonders for paint on plastic and vinyl.
