I hit a squirrel last time I rode.  I slowed down and tried miss him, but he ran back and forth and ran under my front wheel.

I got a chihuahua exactly the same way.  Awful experience.  I went back to see if I could help in some way.  But, it was clear that it would soon die from the crushed body.  The owners were there and knew I didn't do it on purpose.  They finally said that I should just go.  Sad event, that.

Until they culled about 10,000 Kangaroos on the army base I work on, 'Roo's getting hit by cars was a daily occurrence.

One afternoon I watched a young soldier who'd just picked up a brand new car crash into a fully grown male 'Roo, I stopped to help him, and he showed me that the odometer read only 29 Kilometers (about 20 miles) and the front end of the car was trashed!

I had one hop into the side of my work pick-up one morning, it had it's head down and managed to hit the left rear wheel, and it's head got caught between the wheel and the fender, spinning it around and breaking it's neck instantly, and I guess I dragged it 20 yards or so before I came to a halt. Not a good way to start the day, lemme tell ya! :-\  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey fuzzybutt, seems anything that hits a Subaru kills it.  ;D

A few months back a cell phone talking girl rear ended my Honda Civic and
killed her Subaru.

I had a right nice ride today enjoying the scenery. We have a lot of Hawks in the area and they were really working the sky today.  One came out of a tree and started going up the road way ahead of me. I have have followed them before and is it really cool. This one made a u turn and came back down the road at me. I have read that they can't judge things coming at them very well so we have a few killed by cars a year. So I hit the brakes and ducked, he went over my head, and I went home. Good day for both of us I guess.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?
