Help with 1976 CB550F front hub wheel bearing change
« on: July 12, 2005, 12:41:40 AM »
Hey all-
New to this forum.  I am 33 and my first ride on 2 wheels was a CL77 Honda, but I learned
to ride on the street on Dad's 1974 CB550K.   Anyhoo...

I have a 1976 CB550F Super Sport.  I pulled the front legs for a seal job and fluid change.
While I had the front wheel off, I decided to do a wheel bearing change (6302Us).
I got it all stripped utill I was looking at the exposed bearing on the non disk side and
the seal and retainer on the disk side.  I removed the seal from the retainer and
now I began to tap out the retaining seal.  No luck...

Anybody know for certain (not speculation) that this is a reverse thread item??
I do not want to hurt it, as it seems to be soft aluminum.

Thanks
Tim

Tim - check the Manual available from the FAQ on this forum, I´m sure the info you need is there!

Good luck! Take some pictures, we could use a "changing wheel bearings" post in the FAQ  ;)
