Conrod damage, Indians, Cr750 replica
« on: November 29, 2006, 02:48:47 PM »
Now I have your attention....  ;D

We had the Burt Munro Memorial meeting here last weekend, with beach racing, road racing, and street racing. I only managed to get to the road racing.
A few pics

Tim's fast Cb750 only managed a few laps then....

Conrod broke and put a hole in the upper crankcase   :'(

Thought I'd better have a picture of an Indian...

Then, a Cr750 replica, built recently and very tidy, but at the moment a stock motor.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the great pics. Too bad about the peekaboo rod, that's never a good thing!

I'm sure the crank is a bit "buggered" along with various bits. A real lose if it's a very early set of cases.

Sam and others,

I spent a bit of time messing about with the pics trying to post them bigger, then trying to reduce the size of the file without compromising the image size. Any tips or programs that reduce file size a heap without shrinking to much?

Yes - the conrod damage is ouch-ouch. Took out upper case, and probably the crankshaft too...when Tim calms down I'll ask what the cause was..!

Cr exhaust - These pipes have a marked seem line top and bottom of meggas - were the Cr's like that originally? He bought them from a Honda dealer in NZ who assured him they were the real deal - I'm not sure, but the headers certainly are like the real things..you can see the seam if you look close in this pic..

Andy

ps that's my CB in the background of one of the other pics...

Sign up at www.photobucket.com and upload your pics there.  I think www.webshots.com offers the same now too and you can also put up videos.

Then use the IMG links for photos and just paste them into your posts here.  Nice big photos and no storage needed on the www.sohc4.us site.  An example:

Webshots pic - you have to click on it which takes you to Webshots to view the full size version (Photobucket is easier - they're not trying to drag you to their site)

If I remember correctly the originals were pressed seam megas. Here is a photo I took of Vic Worlds CR750(made with original parts) at Mid-Ohio vintage days a few years ago......his bike had the seams.

Here's a closeup of the pipes - prominent seams, these have a reverse cone end to them, the Vic's worlds Cr seems to have a different sort of end to them.
Drilled disc's weren't standard were they?

Closeup of upper case damage too...

Yep....those are the same pipes.....original CR750.

Vics are exactly the same.....he just has rubber plugs in the ends to keep out debris and water.

Seriously - thanks Greg. I didn't pick up the plugs in the pics.
