A couple weeks ago I joined this board after I bought a 73 CB750 to start a Cafe project. After that I have bought another one, a 78' CB750.
The bikes cost me $250 & $200 respectivley.
The 73 (which cost more) was in the worst shape (missing seat, no tailight, dented tank, rusted inside, missing throttle) but everthing I was going to need was there (frame engine with 8000/miles, carbs, front end, rear end). A Custom tank and seat and replace the majority of cosmetic part along with a big bore kit, new wire harness, pipes, ignition and fresh paint are part of my plans. Something along the lines of Steve Carpenters "Vincent Style" racer has inspired me to do such things.
The 78 I just sort of stumbled upon, when a guy at the shop where I work asked me how the bike coming, and mentioned that a buddy of his had one "those" in his garage he would like to get rid of. So I looked at it, and beside being moved from the garage to a barn seemed to be in good condition. The pipes & wheels have surface rust but the rest looks like it just need to be cleaned. The carbs will need to be cleaned and such (has been sitting about 3 years) but other than that, it seemed like a good deal.
The 78' I may get in running order and sell it to buy stuff for the other.
When I get home tonight I will post pics of both.
BTW, this site has been a great for finding resources on these bikes.
Thanks to all those who are apart of that.
