...there were a few posts on sirusonic selling slow jets.  This is great news as the old slow jets some near impossible to clean.  Hows this for a solution...

...the slow jets are 35's, which is 0.35mm or around 0.013"  The #80 drill bit in this set will ream the jets out to the correct size.

Pardon my ignorance here Great One....but I am a little confused...

Are you suggesting we buy new jest and then clean them or are you saying we can just run these drill bits through in order to clean our old ones out?

Also I don't have a drill press so what would be the best method? Bench vise and steady hands?

...sorry if i wasn't clear, this method would be for cleaning up u'r old jets.  you don't need a drill press for this operation.  technically u'r not removing any metal, and it you are its only a couple thousands.  steady hands, and patience should be all you need.  some of the sets come with a collet that holds the drill bits, i'd recommend one of those, as you need something to grip the bits...

if you want to hold those tiny drills, go to your local welding shop and buy a pin vise (these i think are used for cleaning welding tips; looks like an x-acto holder with four jaws)

I use a pin vise and tiny drills on my models all the time, any good hobby shop should stock them, I have a set of drill bits 0.3 -1.6 mm, and you can get smaller. I use them for drilling holes and replicating rivets on model aircraft.
