30 mm cartridge fuses for the old Hondas
« on: September 07, 2007, 10:31:52 AM »
I recall having read here that finding 30 mm fuses -like the ones used in the CB750 and many of the same era- were hard to get by. Just fyi, I've bought them at www.louis.de, for 1,45 euros a 5-pack.

Shipping to the US can be expensive, but if some of you need them I can order more in my next order and mail them out in a regular envelope.

30 mm is about 1 1/4 inches.  Quite common fuse availability in the states.  The stock fuse holders in our SOHC4s take a 1 inch fuse, or 25 mm.  A 30 mm fuse is too long.  You can stuff one in there, but it doesn't make full contact with the fuse clips. This leads to them melting from added contact resistance.

You can get the proper length fuse if you shop a bit.  Or, mail order from Mouser.

Cheers,

My CB350 has 30 mm fuse. I ordered a couple from Honda, and they sent 25 mm fuses. In fact I removed the fuse holder to install a blade type, but once it was in place I decided I didn't like it -too modern for an old bike- so I soldered back the fuse clips.

Anyway, if they are easy to find so much better for all of us!!!!
