Where Were You on Saturday, Sept 1? (Michigan folks probably)
« on: September 09, 2007, 04:40:39 AM »
The wife and I were heading up to the U.P. for a week and as we approached the Big Mac, I believe it was a bit before 11:00 A.M., I noticed two bikes in the right lane. The left-most was a 750, black?, couldn't get a good look. Wondered if it was a member?

That description matches my bike, we're not due for our motorcycle vacation up there for another 3 weeks... Sorry, not me!

We were planning to haul the bikes up to St. Ignace and take a few color tour day-trips, but we might have to push it back a few weeks. Bu then, there may not be much fall foliage left... We might end up going to Houghton Lake instead.

Dan, the colors are already showing in the U.P. perhaps excellerated by the dry weather. I wish I had the bike when we went up last week, but it would have to be a tow as it's well over 500 mi. each way to the lake. We saw a ton of bikes all across the U.P. but the numbers dropped precipitously after Labor Day.

I think The Maize and Blue was in the crapper on both dates. Mr. Carr better get his act together or his last year might be memorable for the wrong reasons. :'( We arrived back in town just as the fans were heading out. We drove through downtown on the way to the house and boy, was it subdued.

I'm a State Fan, My Dad's a Michigan Fan (Went to Minnesota, taught at Michigan,,he's confused!)... During the game the other day, he kept trying to change the chanel, then at the beginning of the 4th quarter, he goes "Well, I can just turn it off!" I called him a fair weather fan, and tried to figure out how to hang his Michigan flag upside down as a distress signal... I lived through the later Perless years and never left a game early... I also never forgot that when Perless brought State to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 25 years, we won!
I heard a review of the game on the radio... the guy (an Ann Arbor writer) criticized the Michigan fans, saying not only was Appalacian State the worst Mismatch since 1910, when Michigans first game was against Ann Arbor High, except that time Michigan won 61-0. He then went on to say that Michigan Fans have a sense of entitlement like some people have Halatosis... I remember 3 years ago, when State brought Michigan into triple overtime, and ONLY beat State because Drew Stanton's shoulder was separated, a friend who is a Michigan Fan chortled at me the next day as if Michigan had won by a landslide... after 3 overtimes, they won by one point!
I feel bad for LLoyd, because he's done a good job for a lot of years... he deserves a little loyalty. Maybe this bad start is a good thing though. Maybe it will drum a little humility into Michigan.

Not likely. Have you ever spent too much time around any alums. I think you are right about the entitlement part.
