h4 headlight wattage recommendations wanted!
« on: July 02, 2005, 11:39:42 PM »
I have a 750 k7 and am tired of riding in with headlight output similar to my cars parklights. I'm going to upgrade to H4 halogens. What wattage combinations should I use and do I have to replace the existing wiring with a stronger system. If so can someone send me a simple wiring diagram.

Go for the H4 60/55W + 20 % or 50%

But rember to put ,twise big earth cable from light and 1 extras earth cabel (6>8mmØ) from Light/front fork to the frame and a weery good earht connected .
I have connected  my headlights via a Xtras relays connected like you put xtra beem (on your car)

Mounted a 8 mmØ cabel from positiv + side of the starter switch (relay) put a BIG AGU fuse like those they jus on to Big-car stereos!

mounted a dobbel relay (for high and low beam)  from relay to the headligt I take 8mmØ   us the xsting cabel to stear the relay.

WERY importet you MUST have sam size of cabel in on the+side  lighbulb ase you have on the earth side  or it have no use.

Have i nice MC weekend
Regards

I installed a H4 55/60 in my 1978 CB750K and found the light not as bright as it should be.....Does the extra wires fix this problem?
If I can't see the Engine I can't see the point.......

I've got a 55/100W halogen light on my K2 Ian, it was jast a plug in deal and works fine. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Mossy, sounds like you have a voltage drop somewhere.
Check over your harness and clean the connectors. The light should work fine, the electrical load is only a little higher than stock.
I have the same bulb in my '75 750F, no problem, however I do use a relay in place of the starter button which failed before I got the bike. The problem could be there, I think your headlight is run through the starter button also.
