Easy Spring Removal

I was stripping a frame today and shot a quick movie cause busted knuckles suck.

That is amazingly clever. Thanks for sharing. I think that may work on other coil springs also.

Very cool. I guess as long as it goes back together fairly soon, it shouldn't cause damage to the spring?

Looks to be more time consuming than levering it on but whatever gets the job done (I guess).

inginous thank you, i need remove side stand to shore it up cause lowered bike, and to clean it, going electrolize side stand polish then put a coat of clear engine paint.

Nice idea.  I just use a coat hanger with the stand up and pull it off.  But thanks for a nice idea.

A guy named _biffta_ had a really good method for putting the centerstand spring on without any tools whatsoever.  You just connect the spring to the frame, and then the centerstand, and then just put the centerstand in place by hand while levering it against the spring.  Much easier than the coins, and less risky than the "brute force method" of muscling the spring into place.
