Brake pad question
« on: October 03, 2007, 07:49:50 PM »
How are brake pads supposed to be installed into the cylinder or cup? I have a CB750F and mine was stuck into the cup with some sticky crap. Not sure if it was supposed to be there or not. Once I get the caliper side back I will remove the pad from the the other side. What's the best way to remove it? Sorry if this is a rookie question.

That stick stuff is probably old anti brake squeel something or other.

You should have a little grease but no sticky stuff.

There's no grease at all. The sticky crap is black and a medium, bright blue. No idea what it is.

The pad backing on the rear caliper was almost rusted to the caliper housing. When it gets back I still need to find a way to break the hex bolts loose to remove the pads.

sounds like Permatex anti squeel spray.
