Hello all,

My name is Jerrad, I am from Crystal Lake IL (NW of Chicago) I have been working for the past 6 months on a 73 CB 350 Four. I am building a small cafe bike out of her. I am putting the finishing touches on the mechanical side of things and the bike should head to the paint shop later this week or early next week. The seat is out being recovered in a costom fashion. My future plans are new MAC 4 into 1 exhaust, new dunlop tires, probably a new head gasket as I think mine has started to leak (white smoke from on side until the bike gets warm) and carbs need to be synched. I am happy to meet all of you and will probably have some questions about my little honda in the days ahead.

thanks,
Jerrad

Well, if you've been working on it for six months then you've probably learned about as much as I can tell you. No real trickery with these bikes, there pretty wrench friendly :D I would suggest addressing that leaky head gasket issue though before it gets worse. This can be done in frame, and I'm guessing the white smoke is from leaky valve seals.

Bad valve seals tend to leak oil into the cylinder when the engine is not running. This is why when you first start it, it will smoke and go away. Rings on the other hand (Poor compression) will tend to continue to smoke after the engine is started and often, get worse as the oil thins out.

When you change the head gasket, have the head serviced.. seat the valves and install new valve seals and that should solve those two issues  :)

Matt, out of curiosity where did you get your MAC 4 into 1 exhaust and where did you get the new gaskets to install it, I have found the exhaust on MAC's site but wondering if there is anywhere to score it cheaper and as yet I have not been able to locate a gasket set for the exhaust.

thanks,
Jerrad

Jerrad, Bought my Mac system through bikebandit.com.
Link: (http://www.bikebandit.com/aftermarket-parts-list?d=1170244+1182421+1182676+1182684)

There price is $319.45 for the Mac 4-1 for the 350F. However, it came to much more than that for me because I'm Canadian  :D With the over the border tax and some cooked up $30 foreign currency fee they added, it ended up costing about $420. But this was still cheaper than oldbikebarn.com or from the Mac factory.
However, Bikebandit was lighting fast with their shipping. From time of order to in my hand was only five days.

Now, they also have the exhaust gaskets or crush rings for the head.

bikebandit Exhaust gasket part # 76678-001 @ $4.64 each
