Barber Vintage Festival

http://www.barbermotorsports.com/events/barber/event-ahrma-general.php

Anyone else going to be there?  I'll be down there all 3 days with my brother in law and one of his friends.  I'll be on a Yamaha Triple, Brother in law and friend on a '70 Moto Guzzi and a '68 BSA Lightning, respectively.  We'll be camping down there, so if you see us feel free to drop by!  ;D

Bill, I have 337 pictures from going to Barber last May.  I plan to take at least twice that many next week at the Vintage Festival.  E-mail me an address and I'll send you a CD of whatever pictures I get.

I'll definitely be taking my camera along with me, and my brother in law has a high quality digital that he takes everywhere.  I'm sure between the two of us we'll be getting some nice shots :)

Okie, we're gonna be in the camp area "C".  Just look for a Yammy, BMW and Moto Guzzi (and possibly a BSA too) in front of a big camping tent.  If you see us feel free to stop by and say hello  ;D

HAHAHAHA, that always work. "You can find me at Sturgis. I will be the big-belly guy, with the white hair and beard, wearing leather vest, leather chaps, and will be riding a modified Harley"   ;D

Wish I could go there. A friend of mine went to the Barber Museum and told me it's amazing. What freaked him out is that in the collection there was a spanish-made Sanglas, in Alabama, with the tax stickers still in place, 40 years later!!!!!!

OK, Raul, I take that as a personal challenge.  This time next week look in this space for a post from DammitDan that we DID, indeed meet at the Barber Vintage Festival.

I looked at the weather forecast and it looks like rain(which means MUD) every day.  Dan, I'll be wearing Red/White/Blue rain gear.  I'll be out early Friday morning to scarf up on all of the great bargains in the swap meet.

Paging each other on the phone is not allowed. You have to meet the old style!!!!  ;D

If you could take some pictures of the Sanglas bike I talked about I would greatly appreciate it. I'm restoring one right now and it would be a cool curiosity to have a picture of the Sanglas that maded it farther from Spain. The people at the Sanglas club will find it amusing too.

I would love to have the chance to be there. How big a World and how short a life......

I looked at going, but it is a little late to make plans.... :-\  I think the forecast calls for the rain to end on Friday. Nice weather on Sat. and Sun.  I am not a camper ..  ::) ... so where do you securely keep an old bike while you are there...the hotel room?

We'll be headed up Friday morning as well...  And come on Raul, how many 1970 Moto Guzzi's do you see running around these days?

I sure hope it doesn't rain all 3 days.  That would just spoil all the fun.

Consider it done.  If I can find it.  That place is pretty BIG.

My garage, perhaps.  10 minutes from the park.  PM me if you're serious, and we'll make it happen.

The Dixie Vintage Motorcycle Club will have a tent in the swap meet area.  I'll leave a signup sheet there where everyone can leave their cell number.  Mine is 205-243-4354.

I'm looking at coming.  What do the tickets get you into?  Are they for the event or do they just get you into the museum, track, or swap meet?

Obviously I've never been and I'm wondering how it all works.

Thanks!

The tickets are for the event, which includes races, swap meet, etc.  Not sure if they include the museum.

I'm gonna be there with my 750F.  Is the bike parking all in one area, or can you ride it into the swap meet area and park it near you?

Is there possibly gonna be a single SOHC meet-up area where we'll all rendezvous?

Well I saw several CB750s there and talked with a few owners but none seemed to be any of you guys ;)

Unless of course one of you owned a rat bike with yellow caution tape all over the tank?  I've never seen it on the forums, but I forgot to ask him if he was a member here...

Very cool event, by the way!  I have to apologize to Raul, I didn't have time to even THINK about going inside the museum...  I was on vintage bike overload by the end of the first day, anyway.

No apologize needed, it was more than I could ask for. I know how these events are; when you have no time to do everything you would like to do, you have to set priorities.

Nevertheless, jtb has sent me a message saying he took some pictures, so I will post a couple as soon as I get them.

I'm glad that you all had a great time there. I hope someday I will be able to make it, as well as the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

That was GoatBass (Leeth Grissom) who also lives here in Birmingham.  The booth was Bud Jordan from NOLA, also a member.
