Newbie/Longtime Lurker - CB500/4 with pics!!!
« on: October 16, 2007, 06:44:20 PM »
Well... I guess it's about time that I formally introduced myself. I've been lurking here for quite a while. That's the great thing about this site... there's so much info here, you don't need to constantly bug everybody with silly questions. I guess that's why I've waited so long.

Nonetheless, I'm Jeff (from SE Michigan) and this is my '71 CB500/4 project. I picked her up for $250 cash. She ran great, looked retarded, but had good mileage - only 14K on the clock. Despite her outward appearance, it seems the older PO actually took pretty damn good care of the essentials. He just never washed her.

I'm a few months into the project now. I've put in a ton of elbow grease, a few parts here and there, and I've taken my time to do things the "right" way.

How she began life with me:

And here she is now... media blasted frame with fresh respray, engine tore down with new gaskets seals and respray + lots more:

Like my last bike, I'm going for the stock/cafe/bobber/retro-mod look. Trust me - I can see it in my head. I'll keep everyone posted as I progress. Thanks for the great site. Meanwhille, here a little pic of my last project (not a SOHC/4 CB):

The tails (cats eye) and turns (bullets) are straight out of the Custom Chrome catalog. There's a local bike shop (Jap and Harley) that has tons of shizzle in stock - I think I paid $50 for everything.
