Rear turn signal mounting
« on: December 04, 2007, 05:14:20 PM »
I have a 1975 cb550 that came without turn signals. How hard can it be to order stock used turn signals and bolt them in?  The fronts came and bolted in no problem. I have no idea how the rear turn signals are supposed to mount up. They came with  "U" shaped brackets with 2 holes in them. This matches the turn signal mounting flange. The fender has one hole in it with a welded nut on the back side. The Honda parts book seems to show "U" shaped brackets. What am I missing?

Does your 75 have a garb bar? My 76 CB550K has a grab bar that the turn signals mount to.

You can mount rear turn signals, with no grab bar, if you are into doing a bit of fabrication.  ;D  This was the result of my winter projects, last year. ..

(Ford Model "A" taillight replica in stainless + vintage big truck driving lights for turn signals.)

Here you can see the aluminum piece I made to mount the signals. There is that flat part of the fender behind them that had to be hammered a bit flatter. Holes were then drilled all the way through both parts for mounting.

How the same lights were mounted on the front:

These mods were pretty fun - a lot better than the elephant ear after market turn signals the APO had mounted all crappy.  8)   I also wired them so I can run just the front, just the back, or all four as driving lights - very handy when its very foggy/rainy out (which here in Orygun, it tends to happen)
