All I know is if we do a Rockies thing, I'm detouring in Denver to East Side Kosher Deli.  Heading south that would be the last kosher restaurant until Mexico City (though Phoenix or Houston would be closer).   ::)

If it's the deli tour we're planning, Montreal also has some great old school kosher delis, like Snowden's, Schwartz's and Ben's. There's pretty much none left here in Boston that I can think of; Rubin's I guess, but I've never been in there.

If we do a trip to PA and up to Montreal.. We could cross on the ferry in New London and hit some good stuff all across Long Island...

The way I figure this everyone can make their own ride plans and meet somewhere along the route, ie for you guys perhaps meet us in  Waterton Peace Park, ride however far you can then head out. I rode Canada 1 from Lake Louise to Regina last year, The section from Calgary to Regina was worse than I-70 through Kansas but at least the traffic was light and we made good time. Go west on 1 then back through the northern states. See you there!

Well, let's get a checklist to prep our bikes for the big ride so we don't have too many mishaps.

Ben,

If we do a trip to PA and up to Montreal.. We could cross on the ferry in New London and hit some good stuff all across Long Island...

Hey Scott,

I don't think I could do both PA and Montreal in one trip, but would love to do a ride through the Berkshires, turning north and going west of 87 through the Adirondacks, up to Montreal as well as out through PA on a seperate trip.
Having grown up in Montreal, and taken care of my last two remaining relatives there until last year, I know my way around a bit.
I also have relatives in west PA and it's nice riding out in the farm lands there.

I don't know how many eastern guys would be able to make it to Colorado, and how many western guys could come east. Although it's not as cool, perhaps we could have SOHC 2008 rally east and west, with posted video highlights?

I also would love to go out to the Hamptons and Montauck and see what it's like out there, having never been to the end of LI. I bet there are some nice ways to get to New London from your place. Do you know how long the ferry takes? I'm pretty sure it's seasonal. I'll look it up!

I have a genetic predisposition to pickled foods and deli. Unfortunately, and perhaps coincidently, no one in my family has made it to 70. Hmm, I wonder if they serve salads at delis now?

Sorry to say Ben's deli in Montreal has closed. A lost landmark but as you know there are several other great spots, just in case the rally swings through Montreal! I'm just south of Mtl. so a north-east region event would be super for me.

Of course there are some nice roads.... one of them is the one I always tell you... Good ole Rt. 102... Could take that all the way down to Rt. 1A and go West until we hit New london.  I think the Ferry ride is about an hour and could look REAL cool with 6-12 bikes going across... I would even contemplate doing a Long Island day trip just for fun...

Excellent, glad to hear you're in. Bummer about Ben's. I was last downtown in June and I thought I saw it still there. It's been getting a bit shabby for years. Glad I have my Ben's t-shirt!

That could be a great day trip! There used to be good Portugese food in New London. Yea, that's the ticket, deli on the island and squid stew and fava beans in New London. Bring it on!
