Stator wire ? 78 cb550
« on: September 15, 2021, 06:51:19 AM »
Do the green and white wires of the stator and coil connect to their respected color (which I assume they should) or does it need to be green/white.  Thanks

Also is the green wire with the barrel connector ground?  Is there any trick to get the screw out of the oil switch so I can connect the blue wire?  When I try to unscrew it to remove it, it just spins. Thanks

If the screw is spinning the switch is toast as the stator/fiels wires they connect colour to colour intothe loom

Stator wires are yellow.  Field coil wires are white and green.  Match color to color when connecting.

If that is a replacement for the original green with red stripe it goes to the neutral switch

The terms you are using is confusing.

Restate  your question.

Are you aware that a green wire and a green with red stripe wire serve different functions?

The dynamo rotor has no connections.
The field coil makes the rotor into a magnet.
The rotating magnetic field creates power in the stator which gets rectified into voltage and current which the bike and battery can use.

The stator was rebuilt by Rick's so I am just trying to confirm the placement of the green wire with the barrel connection shown in my picture. bryanj the part pic on cmsnl (#15) states it as the stator, neutral sw. Is that incorrect?
