The round plug ignition was used up until 1973.

....and also were all these round plugs recessed. If so, that gives a much greater source of switches for "correct" restores.

No, not all round plug were recessed some are visually the same as the square plug type which are same as 500

By round and square plug I mean the electrical connector.

I know 73 had square.. prior I am not sure but I did find this out from my early partsbook

First # had 300 in the middle .. no serial # info

Superseded by a 313 number again..no serial #info.

My book is from 71 so newer supersedes are not shown.

Now the auction for the recessed black collared key set had 313 on the box, so is it correct ?.. OR earlier set in 2nd generation box???

Also are the round connecter ignitions, brown, white or do they come in both??

I am more confused than when I first posted!!!

I looked at my parts list which includes the CB750 (K0) through the K2 and there appears a supersede number associated with all three models. I'm assuming this means that somewhere during the K0 production, the recessed key switch was discontinued. Mine still has it and the ser# 1017898. Another assumption, the change was made sometime after that and as far as I know, my ignition switch is original to my bike.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

From Memory here is what happened with part numbers from a 74 book
First switch round connector(brown) recessed switch
35010-303-003 not avail use 35010-336-611(cb750 & K1) I assume these are recessed and not recessed but have no proof
Second switch Round connector (brown) Non recessed changed as customers complained that the first one "fell out"
Third switch Square(ish) connector (white) changed to be same as other models so reducing parts quantity35010-341-671 (changed from  670 final number)(k2) 35020-341-700 (K3 & K4)

Those numbers are for switch/steering lock "kits" there is no seperate switch listed before K3/4 which is 35100-341-700

Obiously the looms changes and for some reason there are 3 different ones
32100-300-050 ---CB750 and K1
32100-341-000 ---K2
32100-341-702 ---K3 & K4  Parts book says you need 2 of these for some reason!!!!!!

Amazing that the linked key/switch went for 31 bucks and the recessed K0 one went for 1,100 bucks.  :o :o
