So, anyone else try this battery on their 550/750???
« on: January 22, 2008, 07:06:39 PM »
I'm looking for more positive experiences from anyone using a smaller battery on their 550/750.

Jinxracing posted  a link to this battery, I only found one positive response:

I'm trying to find a battery 1/2 to 3/4 smaller from original. Something that will power my electric starter and be used everyday.. Yes, I want to hide it under my seat!

So, I took the step and bought the battery. I'm going to keep my stock battery in the bike. As soon as the weather permits, I'll rig an extra battery holder. I normally ride about 44 miles a day.

My bike a 1976 Cb550K 56,000 miles, good charging system in bike. I always use my electric start button. The L.A. rainy season started, so I'll be able to ride in about a week. It rains one week, then dry 3 weeks, this happens on and off till June.

I've used that style battery... You can get the same one at Radio Shack (alarm Battey). It wont last long if you are using your electric start...it doesnt have alot of cranking amps. I have mounted them under the seat on my kick start bikes.

If you want a small battery with enough cranking amps.....you'll have to break down and buy a Gel Cell about $100
